BREATH (BRain hEAlTH over the life-course)

Welcome to the website of the research group BRain hEAlTH over the life - course (BREATH)!

Brain health is defined by the World Health Organization as a "state, in which an individual can realize their own abilities and optimize their cognitive, emotional, psychological and behavioral functioning to cope with life situations."

Maintaining good brain health is a life-long process. Brain health is influenced by numerous interconnected social and biological risk factors that emerge from pre-conception and last throughout the life-course.

Our group BREATH performs research using epidemiological studies and complex statistical methods that are able to address the long-term influence of risk and protective factors for brain disorders. Our aim is to contribute to knowledge about the etiology of brain disorders as well as about strategies for their prevention across the life course.

The group is located at the Department of Epidemiology at the Second Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague.
